HYPERCONTROL User Guide
HYPERCONTROL turns your Android phone or tablet into a wireless controller for your computer, tablet or another phone. It connects over standard Bluetooth: no receiver, and no software to install on the computer for the keyboard, trackpad and gamepad.
- Keyboard with an Fn layer, numpad, modifiers and key repeat, and Android, Windows and Mac profiles.
- Trackpad with left and right click, a scroll strip and adjustable speed. Laptop puts both together in landscape.
- Gamepad with a D-pad, A/B/X/Y, shoulders and two analog sticks, recognised as a standard Bluetooth controller.
- MIDI keyboard over Bluetooth MIDI, and Voice dictation that types on the connected device.
1. What you need
- An Android phone or tablet with Bluetooth, Android 9 or newer.
- A host that accepts a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse: a Windows PC, a Mac, a Chromebook, a tablet or another phone.
- For MIDI: a music app that accepts Bluetooth MIDI (see section 5).
2. Install
HYPERCONTROL from microworld.space is a direct download (an APK file). A Google Play version is in testing.
- On your phone, open microworld.space and press Download free trial.
- Open the downloaded
HYPERCONTROL-direct.apk. When Android asks, allow installs from your browser (Settings → Install unknown apps), then press Install. - Open HYPERCONTROL and allow the Nearby devices / Bluetooth permission when asked.
The direct version and the Play version are separate apps and can be installed side by side.
3. Connect to your computer
- In HYPERCONTROL, open the device list and press PAIR NEW DEVICE. Allow Android to make the phone visible.
- On the computer, open Bluetooth settings → Add device → Bluetooth.
- Choose HYPERCONTROL (or HYPERCONTROL BLE). If an old HYPERCONTROL pairing is listed, remove it first.
- Accept the pairing prompt on both devices and keep HYPERCONTROL open until the status shows the computer's name.
Next time: saved hosts reconnect automatically when you open the app. To use another computer, press PAIR NEW DEVICE again. REMOVE forgets a host in HYPERCONTROL only; to forget the pairing completely, remove it in the phone's and the computer's Bluetooth settings too.
4. The modes
| Mode | What it does |
|---|---|
| Trackpad | Move the pointer with one finger. Tap to click, use the buttons below for left, middle and right click, and the SCROLL strip on the right to scroll. The DPI buttons (0.6×, 1.2×, 1.8×, 2.5×) set the pointer speed. To drag, hold a button with one finger and move with another. |
| Keyboard | A full keyboard with F1–F12, arrows, Ctrl, Alt, and Cmd/Win. FN switches to the second layer. Choose the Android, Windows or Mac profile so modifier keys match your computer. Hold a key to repeat it. |
| Laptop | Keyboard and trackpad together, for landscape. |
| Gamepad | D-pad, A/B/X/Y, L1/L2/R1/R2, two analog sticks with L3/R3, and MENU · SELECT · START · EXIT. Choose CONTROLLER to appear as a real Bluetooth game controller, or KEYBOARD to send keys instead (for games and emulators that only read the keyboard). Like a real controller, one thumb can press two face buttons: touch between A and B (or any two neighbours), and slide to roll from one to the next. |
| Calibrate | On the Gamepad screen, tap the sliders button between KEYBOARD and CONTROLLER. Tap a control to select it, drag it to move it, and use − / + to resize it. CENTER, RESET PART, SNAP and RESET ALL help line things up. STICK FEEL sets the sticks' dead zone and how far a full push goes. Press DONE; it saves by itself, separately for portrait and landscape. Nothing is sent to the computer while calibrating. |
| MIDI | A playable keyboard with octave and transpose, scales, MIDI channel, sustain, pitch and mod wheels, and PANIC to silence stuck notes. |
| Voice | Type or dictate text and send it to the connected device. See section 6. |
The arrow button at the top hides or shows the options. The fullscreen button gives a control the whole screen.
5. MIDI setup
On the MIDI screen, choose where the notes go:
- BLUETOOTH sends standard Bluetooth MIDI to the connected host, over the same connection as the keyboard and trackpad. Then pick HYPERCONTROL as a MIDI input in your music app.
- LOCAL plays a music app on the same phone: choose HYPERCONTROL MIDI as its input.
Mac, iPad and iPhone
Bluetooth MIDI works natively. On a Mac, open Audio MIDI Setup → Window → Show MIDI Studio → Bluetooth and connect HYPERCONTROL. It then appears in every DAW.
MICROWORLD web apps
In the MIDI apps on microworld.space (Night Train, NEXUS and others), press CONNECT BLUETOOTH MIDI in the MIDI panel and choose HYPERCONTROL BLE. Nothing else is needed. Use Chrome or Edge.
Windows DAWs
Most Windows DAWs don't list Bluetooth MIDI devices on their own. Use two free tools:
- Create a virtual MIDI port with loopMIDI (press + to add a port) or LoopBe1 (installs one port called LoopBe Internal MIDI).
- Use a Bluetooth MIDI bridge app such as MIDIberry (Microsoft Store): set HYPERCONTROL as its input and your loopMIDI or LoopBe port as its output.
- In your DAW, enable the loopMIDI or LoopBe port as a MIDI input.
loopMIDI and LoopBe1 only create virtual MIDI cables between programs. They don't connect to Bluetooth themselves, which is why the bridge app is needed.
6. Voice and macros
- Voice: press VOICE DICTATION and speak, or type in the box, then press TRANSMIT TEXT. The text is typed on the connected device.
- Quick shortcut phrases: tap a saved phrase to send it in one go.
- Macros: save hotkey shortcuts with NEW MACRO SHORTCUT and fire them with one tap.
Your keystrokes and text go only to the device you're connected to. HYPERCONTROL never stores or uploads them.
7. Local control and Wi-Fi remote (optional)
- LOCAL controls another app on the same phone in split screen (Android 13 or newer). Open LOCAL → SETUP, turn on HYPERCONTROL Local Control in Android's Accessibility settings, put both apps in split screen, then press START LOCAL CONTROL.
- Wi-Fi web remote lets a browser on the same Wi-Fi control the connection. Turn it on in Settings, open the address it shows and enter its access token. The phone stays connected to the host over Bluetooth.
8. Trial and unlock
- Free trial: every feature works in 10-minute sessions. When a session ends, held keys are released and controls pause for a 5-minute break, then the next session starts.
- Unlock: one purchase of $4.99 unlocks unlimited use on up to 3 of your devices. Press Unlock in the app: microworld.space opens. Sign in with the account you bought it with (or buy it there first), then press Activate. HYPERCONTROL unlocks by itself within seconds.
- New phone: press RESTORE PURCHASE and activate again. To free a slot, remove an old device on microworld.space/activate.html.
- The license is checked on the phone and renews itself in the background when you're online. It keeps working offline for up to 14 days.
The Google Play version has its own trial (3 unlimited days, then 10-minute sessions) and is bought through Google Play.
9. Troubleshooting
- The computer doesn't find HYPERCONTROL. Press PAIR NEW DEVICE again and search within a few minutes. Remove old HYPERCONTROL entries from the computer's Bluetooth list first.
- Connected but nothing happens. Keep HYPERCONTROL open until the computer finishes setting up the keyboard and mouse, then try the trackpad. If it still doesn't work, press STOP BLUETOOTH SESSION, remove the pairing on both sides and pair again.
- The connection drops when the screen is off. Allow HYPERCONTROL's notification, and set its battery use to Unrestricted in Android's app settings.
- No vibration. Turn on haptic feedback in HYPERCONTROL's settings. Controller vibration works even when the phone's own touch vibration is off.
- A key or note is stuck. Release all fingers. For MIDI, press PANIC.
- The game doesn't see a controller. In Gamepad, choose CONTROLLER, then reconnect.
- The DAW doesn't show HYPERCONTROL. On Windows, see section 5. Make sure the MIDI screen is set to BLUETOOTH.
- Activation doesn't finish. Check your internet connection and press Unlock again. If you've used all 3 devices, remove one on microworld.space/activate.html.
- Bluetooth diagnostics: the device list has COPY BLUETOOTH DIAGNOSTICS; paste it into an email to us.
